The Center for Neuromuscular and Massage Rehabilitation is pleased to announce the addition of chiropractic services to our clinic. Since true holistic therapy encompasses a wide range of ideas and scopes, merging chiropractic with physical therapy and massage therapy can provide a synergy beyond the borders of any one treatment.
Chiropractic treatment- what is it?
Chiropractic is unique from other forms of healthcare in that it relies on the inherent recuperative ability of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.
The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between the structure of the body (primarily the spine) and the function of the body (as coordinated by the nervous system). The relationship between the two affects how the body will preserve and restore itself.
Although chiropractic shares much with other health professions, its emphasis and application of philosophy distinguishes it from traditional Western medicine. Chiropractic philosophy gravitates toward a holistic ("total person") approach to healing which combines elements of the mind, body and spirit.
According to the Association of Chiropractic Colleges, chiropractic philosophy includes:
• emphasis on patient recuperative abilities rather than surgery
• recognition that dynamics exist between lifestyle, environment and health
• desire for understanding the cause of illness in order to eliminate it, rather than simply treat symptoms
• recognition of the centrality of the nervous system and its intimate relationship with the capacities of the human body
• communicating the benefits and risks of clinical interventions
• recognition of the primary importance of monitoring progress closely through appropriate diagnostic procedures
• a patient-centered, hands-on approach focused on influencing function through structure
• focusing on early intervention, emphasizing timely diagnosis, and treatment of conditions that are wholly functional and reversible
In a nutshell, the chiropractic philosophy follows the belief that your body has the wisdom to heal itself when at homeostasis. Chiropractic helps you achieve homeostasis by relieving structural imbalances in the spine and enhancing the mind-body connection, as well as emphasizing the importance of nutrition, stress management and exercise .
“As a Doctor of Chiropractic I treat individuals with neuromusculoskeletal complaints, such as headaches, joint pain, neck pain, low back pain and sciatica. Combined with physical therapy techniques such as massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and exercise, the scope of chiropractic can expand to include patients with osteoarthritis, spinal disk conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, sprains, and strains. In addition, based on the subluxaton theory, chiropractors have had success in treating a variety of non-neuromusculoskeletal conditions such as: allergies, asthma, digestive disorders, otitis media (non-suppurative) and other disorders as new research is developed.
I base my practice on improving the structure of the spine through chiropractic adjustments and physiotherapy. This increases nerve function and improves the mind-body connection, allowing the body to perform at a higher potential, as well as provide comfort and increased physical ability.
Having personally suffered a spinal injury playing sports 25 years ago, I found traditional medicine to be inadequate as a means of dealing with my pain. I discovered that when used together, chiropractic and hands-on physical therapy offered me the most relief as well as the ability to maintain an active lifestyle. As a result of my own experience, I became a chiropractor and physical trainer in order to offer to others what has worked so well for me, and have been extremely gratified to see my patients experience similar relief and well-being.”

At CNMR, we aim to integrate chiropractic care with the practice of physical therapy and massage to give the client a diverse and cohesive approach to diagnosis and treatment. Our goal is to create a balance of each type of therapy that fits for you, the individual. The harmonious convergence of all these complimentary approaches creates healing that few clinics can match, let alone offer. At last- your care is complete, start to finish.
